For more than three decades Planetary Sounds has been connecting music lovers with rare and classic vinyl records, from every corner of the globe. It’s more than a business, it’s a life-long passion.

My deeper interest in music began as a six-year-old when one evening my apron-wearing mom burst forth from the kitchen, spatula in hand, singing along and mimicking the dance steps to The Supremes hit “Stop In The Name Of Love.” My sister and I sat in drop-jawed amazement on the floor. AS the song faded out, mom returned to the kitchen as if it was an everyday event. Music can move us when we least expect it; I knew it at once. And some 56-years later, that enduring memory is where my love of music begins.

Constantly, and with great enthusiasm, I perused my parents' collection, discovering soul, blues, jazz, lounge and pop against the musical flurry of FM radio’s rock and roll beginnings that filled the neighborhood homes, garages and car stereos.

I still have the first record I ever purchased (actually my reluctant Nana bought it for me as a birthday gift), back in November 1973: A 7” 45 rpm of Steve Miller’s “The Joker.”

That set me on a record collecting journey (presently 4000+ strong) and life dictated by music, making my way as a deejay (radio and parties), music publicist and biographer, record label marketing and PR representative, music journalist and newspaper/magazine editor, and eventually, record shop owner.

To say music is all-consuming might be an understatement, but nothing makes me (or my staff) happier than helping someone find the music that fills their soul—and ignites their passion as well.
