The album features Levon Helm singing the role of Jesse James, Johnny Cash as Frank James, Charlie Daniels as Cole Younger and Emmylou Harris as Jesse James' wife, Zerelda James. Other singers featured includes Rosanne Cash, Rodney Crowell and Albert Lee.
